I will send you some links, a lot of it is really straight forward and common sense but a lot of it goes pretty deep. Hockey is a hell of a lot harder than baseball when it comes to using stats. Some of it is quite an eye opener.

Going to come up with some advanced statistics re: individuals "trying to sound smart" ... gotta figure my VAVUPP (vis-a-vis usages per post) is pretty much at the top of the charts.

    Yeah, I know.

If only I was smart as you - I'd understand everything!

Creosote, thanks for being able to read.

    Remember: We're the condescending assholes.

We know what it means, even if we aren't as smart as some posters who lower themselves to grace us with their wisdom.

It is not common terminology. It was used by Bryce Harper in his introductory press conference.

Sorry for venturing onto your turf, I'll ask permission next time. You have smug and arrogant covered so well, I should know better than to go there.

Off to find some lunch. You guys have fun.

FP Santangelo used Oppo Taco once when Wilson Ramos hit a home run. Last year, I think. Was the first time I'd heard that term. Wasn't sure how to process that at the time. Glad to hear it's used more often than I thought. Cause that could have been awkward.

Angels announcer Victor Rojas says "oppo taco." The first time I heard it, I wanted to throw something at the TV.

Rojas used to be with the Rangers. I found him nigh on unbearable even then.

Scroll up and re-read Versatile's post directed at Moddy and tell us again how laughable it is to say the "advanced crowd" is being condescending. If you still don't get it, you are beyond help. (Actually, it's few posts back now, but it's the one that starts off comparing advanced stats to the scientific understanding of gravity).

See? Nobody knows condescending like I do. As Versatile said, trust the expert. :)
