Good god, that was in 2011, not 1961. I'm pretty sure political correctness had found us by 2011. This is frickin idiotic.

Since Hibbert went to a Jesuit school that has shown antipathy towards gay rights, penalizing his speech is tantamount to religious insensitivity

Someone should have informed the Pacers this game started quite a while ago.

This series seemed destined for 7 as soon as the Spurs swept the Grizz.

Discussing NBA with people gets a little tired, everyone is convinced every game in the playoffs is fixed. It's probably one of the dumbest ideas floating around the sports world.

The only two games I think were fixed were the Kings-Lakers game some years back and game seven of the 1993 West Finals, NBA wanted Barkley-Jordan in the finals.

Pretty convenient to say that as Game 7 ends.

That the NBA now has to announce the ref assignments the day of the game for the gambler's sake, that gamblers chart the impact particular refs have on games says enough.

I'd have no problem if the NBA just used a four-ref rotation for each series instead of shuffling in new crews for each game. The teams don't change game-to-game, only the refs do.

There's been a narrative in the league for three decades that games are rigged. You don't see it in any other league as much as the NBA.

    The Patrick Ewing lottery.
    Lakers-Kings Game 6 in 2002.
    Predisposition to big markets.
Tim Donaghy in the hundreds of games he outlined.

It's a tough game to officiate, probably the toughest. It doesn't help it has the most chatter between officials and players/coaches.

The NBA has had three decades to knock down the perception. It hasn't done it and eyebrows are always going to be raised because it's failed to do so.
