I feel sorry for Geno Smith. Sucks for him; hell even Gabbert got picked.

 

Guess the value of a trade is in the eye of the beholder.

Anyhow, the Cowboys draft Travis Frederick out of Wisconsin. They reached, but at least he looks pretty solid and they did address a need. I think Frederick would've been there with their second pick, which was why I expected Jerry to trade down again after Floyd and Williams came off the board.

The Geno Smith fiasco is on Mel Kiper. He was the ONLY person still hyping Smith's draft status. And I don't blame Smith for clinging to that, especially because he could hear Kiper's bullshit 77 times a day for the past couple of weeks. But if Smith paid attention, he likely would have adjusted his expectations.

What I do blame Smith for, however, is pouting for four hours. He did himself no favors by acting like that. Someone in his entourage should remind him that teams do not associate leadership with petulance.

 

Perhaps some factor in the Mountaineers finishing what 2-5?

 

Didn't I read that the over/under on Geno Smith's draft slot was 8.5? Or was that pure media BS?

Gruden had a great off-hand comment when they were trying to hype him as the Jets' pick at No. 13 (ridiculous on its face considering they're shackled to Sanchez's contract).
He said, "Somebody at ESPN really likes Geno Smith."
Guess we know who he was talking about.

And how is Te'o still considered a stunning drop? He had a horrible workout process, is slow, and was manhandled by the closest thing to an NFL team the college game had to offer. Or is it only stunning to the folks feeding quarters into the ESPN hype machine?
