Isn't he also the last Chiefs-drafted QB to win a game as a starter?

No idea... But there's no question that the bulk of the quarterbacks who have been starters in KC were not drafted by KC. I think Alex Smith will be the fourth 49ers QB to wind up there in the last 25 years or so, maybe the fifth...

Not for lack of trying by 0-10 Brodie Croyle.

Did we know ahead of time last year who the first pick of the second round was going to be? Should we expect it to leak out today sometime before the draft officially starts back up?

I'd rather my son grow up a liberal than a Packers fan.

I don't remember a big-name player last year who everyone thought would go in the first round, but didn't... Maybe Janoris Jenkins, but everybody expected him to fall...

I think people are assuming that Te'o and Geno Smith are both likely to be among the first five picks in the second round. While I think that's possible, it's probably anything but a guarantee.

There's also Tank Carradine, Damontre Moore, Keenan Allen, Eddie Lacy, Johnathan Cyprien, Robert Woods were all projected (by some) as first-rounders...

This is one of those drafts where the second round is likely to include more household names than the first round.

Probably very true... Especially since there are probably 2-3 quarterbacks, 2-3 running backs and maybe 3-4 receivers who could go in the second.

Gil Brandt (no clue if he's still highly regarded and trusted) says the Jags like Banks and the 49ers like some tight end whose name I can't recall. And he also thinks as many as three QBs may go between the 33rd and 39th picks.

Lot of discussion around these parts as to what the Skins should do at 51. First thought is CB or S. But if Robert Woods or Justin Hunter are still on the board, I wouldn't hate it. Besides Garcon, the receivers are all meh. I think I'd like to see D.J. Swearinger go at 51, though.

It looks like Smith definitely left the draft...

What he fails to realize is that when someone goes through what Thurman Thomas, Warren Sapp, Aaron Rodgers, and Dan Marino goes through and the public gets to watch it, it kind of makes people root for them a little more...

Over a decade ago, I went to the house of a local kid who was considered a very likely first-round pick. He ended up going in the second and after several players at his position were taken ahead of him, he left the house and took off...

It ended up being the greatest thing ever, when I wrote my takeout on him for the following Sunday, but from a "news" standpoint, it got me kind of uneasy, because I didn't know if I was going to have any reaction from him. After he was taken, he called his mom and asked her to have me leave. She refused. She said, "Unlike you, he's been very polite..."

    Pretty funny...

He ended up being an absolute steal in the second round.

I'm sure I've told that story before, so I'll apologize in advance before Versatile tries to shame me... :D

I'm not sure why there hasn't been more talk about the Redskins going O-line. The secondary is a big need, but the group in front of Griffin could use an upgrade. Bears pick right in front the 'Skins, so at least 10-12 minutes of today's festivities will be of significant interest to me.
