Yeah, I would hope the Redskins first two picks are on linemen.

Yeah. I covered a local guy's draft day party about six or seven years ago. He was projected anywhere from late first to late second round. He ended up going with the first pick of the third round, I believe. 65th maybe. Boy, was he pissed. Every time another receiver was taken ahead of him, he'd throw a fit. Not in a douchey way, but a fit nonetheless. He ended up leaving for a while before coming back. One of the longest days of my life. About 100 people in a 700 sq foot house, if that.

I ended up writing a column the next day bashing his agent for various reasons. And sure enough, a few days later, I ended up writing a story about how the player had fired his agent.

I get Smith's disappointment; how many guys even show up for the 2nd round anyways? Wouldn't he be the only guy around?

Covering draft parties where the guy goes much later than expected are just death. Unbelievably awkward.

We've had a few middle round guys is this area the last few years, and I've been invited to their draft parties. I always decline, however, and say "I'll call him after he's drafted."

It depends... If you're only writing for the next day, yeah, skip it... If you're covering the news and doing a feature for later, it's gold.

I wrote every derogatory comment he made about the players taken ahead of him. I thought he would never speak to me again, but he was pretty cool with the article.

You really think these players would listen to their agents if they said, "Hey, you're probably not going to get drafted as high as you think, so temper your expectations"? That, too, would be a quick way for an agent to get dumped.

What Smith needs more than an agent is someone in his inner circle to remind him that when a camera is trained on you for hours and hours, it doesn't help your situation to act like a 5-year-old who had his favorite toy taken away. Image and all that.

The latest report is that he would stay in New York tonight, which would be the smart thing to do.

They won't be. Especially not with their first TWO picks. Definitely not with their first.

Left to right, () courtey of the WaPo.....Williams (Pro Bowl player), Lichtensteiger (just re-signed), Montgomery (solid entering 3rd season as starter), Chester (hasn’t missed a game since signing in 2011), Polumbus (newly re-signed), Trueblood (lost starting job in Tampa).

Contrary to popular belief, the Skins' OL wasn't horrible last year, thanks in part to RG3. But they didn't suck as much as everyone thought they would. Defensive back is a much larger need for the Skins than O line. By far.

Sure, they could use another body, and they'll likely take an OL. Just not with a second or third round pick, IMO.

The players who this happens to don't get over it. But if it serves as motivation for them going forward, good for them...

I don't think Smith is the only player in NYC who wasn't taken. I think Jesse Williams and Eddie Lacy are still there and I'm sure there are a couple others... It's not as bad as it was several years ago when there would only be six players there...

Just saw a tweet that Lacy is keeping plans to go home, but Smith is staying, as is Mississippi State CB Darius Slay.

I think Aaron Rodgers has gotten over it quite nicely.

Eh.... Joe Montana, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac, now Smith. Can't recall if Jim Drunkenmiller was with KC briefly or not.

It doesn't have to be a bad thing... It motivates them to work harder...
