If a team needs a QB but has other pressing needs, it's probably better off waiting for 2014, when Teddy Bridgewater, Aaron Murray*, and Logan Thomas are all available (Manziel could be too). Bridgewater is already a better quarterback than anybody in this draft, and Murray might be too, Barkley's reputation aside.

*Unless he leaves this year, when he's projected as a 2nd-to-3rd rounder.

If I had the first pick in the 2014 draft, and my current QBs were a quadruple amputee, a box turtle and Abe Vigoda, I'm still taking Jadeveon Clowney.

OT Taylor Lewan from Michigan is going to go, though the official announcement won't be for a few more days. He's going to start every pre-draft interview with "Look, I know you all saw Vincent Smith get decapitated in the Outback Bowl, but I wasn't blocking Clowney on that play. Seriously. I wasn't. Watch the tape again."

    Shitty.

And without wading too deeply into the "should they or shouldn't they be allowed to go HS to NFL" waters, it's a damn shame Clowney can't be drafted this year. I really hope that guy doesn't get injured or anything next year. Man among boys, he is.

Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel in. Top 5 pick, probably.

I've seen places that think he'll be the top pick.

Stanford tight end Zach Ertz -- projected first-rounder -- is gone. (Has his degree. Good Stanford boy.)

Bigger news is that Ben Gardner, Shayne Skov and Trent Murphy are staying, which means Stanford returns 10 of 11 starters on defense.

And since the Raiders have Lechler, he won't even go in the first round.

I've rooted against Stanford for most of my life (Cal fan) but I must admit, I respect the hell out of what they're doing there... Now they just need to keep the NFL away from this coach.

I wonder how much Manti Te'o's stock fell last night? A lot, I'm guessing.

You know, it's crazy. He had a college career for the ages. Runner-up for the Heisman at linebacker. Seven interceptions as a senior. BCS title game. Notre Dame legend. But you could argue that he didn't end up living up to his recruiting stock. I think he was the No. 2 recruit in the country, according to Rivals, his year. He definitely won't go No. 2 in the draft. Obviously that's not "bust" territory, but it's just kind of funny.

As I expressed on the Heisman thread, I think, there should definitely be some questions about him. In particular, a lot of his value - at middle linebacker - had to do with his exhorbitant amount of interceptions. I'm sure he has a nose for the ball, to a degree, but I bet he doesn't have seven interceptions his entire NFL career. You can't draft him for that.

Didn't prove to be much of a tackler, that's for sure.

They just signed him to a contract extension and they very pointedly said it was "long term." When pressed on it, they added that it was for the "foreseeable future." It was odd because in previous cases of high-profile coaches, Stanford has announced the length of contract extensions: three, four years, whatever. I read one bit of informed speculation that this could mean they put together something like a 10- or 15-year deal with an annual rollover. Lifetime contracts aren't allowed there, but that's pretty close.

I get the feeling Shaw really does know how good he has it.
