Cold fact but true. The fewer NFL teams with African American head coaches, the better Dungy's chances of induction get.

    I'm going with this:

    Michael Strahan
    Jonathan Ogden
    Warren Sapp
    Tim Brown
    Edward DeBartolo Jr.

Can't see two linemen getting in the same year, but Allen is also deserving. Carter/Brown is almost a toss-up, but I'll take Brown this time around.

I love the guy, but as a Bucs fan I have to agree. Not sure he is deserving at all. Is he?

Good coach whose teams almost always underachieved in the postseason. Having won a title, he'll likely get in, but doesn't deserve to on his relative merits.

He also has a ceremonial place in that regard. He wasn't the first African-American coach of the modern era, but he was one who for a long time was thought to be getting "passed over." He also took a leadership role for other coaches who followed (Edwards, Lovie, etc.) and has been the league's conscience for quite some time.

I agree. But if they take his influence on other coaches (Tomlin, Lovie, Edwards), then there might be an argument as LTL says. But I wouldn't vote for him unless I heard a very convincing argument.

There's a really good chance you're wrong on all five, especially if they go Allen over Ogden.

You left the best left tackle off the list, Tony Boselli. He won't get in because of injuries but he was the best, better than Ogden, when healthy.

I was never one to consider Kurt Warner a Hall of Famer until he took Arizona to the Super Bowl.
I still don't think he deserved either of the MVP awards he received, they both should have gone to Marshall Faulk. But Warner is a two-time MVP, was a Super Bowl MVP and champion and played in three Super Bowls while helping to resurrect two dismal franchises.
Look at what's happened to the Rams and Cardinals since he left them.

Did you watch the NFL in 1999? Warner was a no-brainer as MVP.

Is that why the Rams, as a team, voted Marshall Faulk as their MVP? Marshall is the reason the Rams got to the Super Bowl and went from a last-place team to champion. It's a shame Faulk only has one MVP award when he should have at least two and probably three.
To say Warner deserved both MVP awards is lumping him in with Joe Montana, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Steve Young, Brett Favre, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as multiple MVP winners. Do you actually believe he belongs in that group?
Remember, I do think Warner belongs in the Hall of Fame, but not because he was the recipient of two MVP awards. Because he put up great numbers and helped lead two dormant franchises to the Super Bowl.

This is definitely true. But if Dungy gets in, I think you're going to see quite a few coaches get in as well... Cowher, Holmgren, Shanahan, Coughlin... That's not to say they're not deserving, but I would argue that they're all borderline right now. Some may argue that Coughlin and Shanahan are locks, and they may be, but I don't see them as being significantly better than Cowher and Holmgren. If I had to rank all of those guys, I'd have Dungy last among them.
