With apologies to Ogden, that might be the biggest collection of football-related ego-maniacs ever assembled. You'd need a building the size of the Superdome just to accomodate all of their egos.

Oh, yes, and I hate, hate, hate leaks of any sort.

Football is a game of ego-maniacs. The Hall is filled with them.

the way this is drawn out is ridiculous -- announcing the final 10 down from 15, then waiting a bit before announcing the 5. stoopid stuff.

I pegged four of the five. I put Shields in over Sapp but they were never going to do three linemen.

Next year I think it's obvious the five they will go with are DeBartolo, Reed, Bettis, Haley and Strahan. Someone gets bumped if they decide to buck the trend with WRs and put Harrison in on the first ballot.

Agreed, but it is what it is since its a television program. Happy for Culp and Robinson. Anyone know what the number of former Lombardi Packers is?

sapp shouldn't have made it before haley or strahan, imo. and it has nothing to do with fact sapp is an a--hole. a guy notorious for taking plays 'off' shouldnt be a first timer...

This should make 12 if you count Em Tunnell, who played on the 60 and 61 teams.

Surprised, but not surprised by Sapp. Surprised, though, Allen got in before Shields. That is not a knock on Allen, but I figured Shields would go now and Allen would wait.

I figured they might go Haley and make Sapp and Strahan wait a year. The fact they put in three first-timers, all of them linemen, is pretty amazing.

here are the groups of three first-timers:
1977 — Forrest Gregg, Gale Sayers, Bart Starr
1978 — Lance Alworth, Ray Nitschke, Larry Wilson
1980 — Deacon Jones, Bob Lilly, Jim Otto
1987 — Joe Greene, Jim Langer, Gene Upshaw
1990 — Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Tom Landry
1991 — Earl Campbell, John Hannah, Jan Stenerud
1993 — Dan Fouts, Chuck Noll, Walter Payton
2006 —Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Reggie White
