How was Dan Fouts a first-ballot inductee?

Dave Robinson makes it and Jerry Kramer doesn't? WTF??? I'm fairly sure if you talked to ANY of the living Lombardi-era Packers and asked them which was more important to their team, Kramer would be almost unanimous.

And the fact that 25 of the last 30 senior nominees have been enshrined makes worse from that standpoint.

He played well before my time, but I, like many others, don't understand how he wasn't voted in. The last time he was a finalist was 1997, his 10th time as a finalist and first on the seniors committee. He was a finalist in 87, 84, 81, 80, 79, 78, 76, 75 and 74.

He has the looks of a Hall of Fame lineman — 3 Pro Bowls, 5 all-pro teams and a second team. A starter on five championship teams, he is on an all-decade team and he is the only player on the NFL 50th anniversary team not in the Hall.

Maybe blocked shots are more important than blocked linemen?

Also in regards to Kramer, the Hall has inducted a Senior player every year since 1994.

Execept once. The year Kramer was the nominee.

    From voter Tony Grossi: http://espncleveland.com/common/more.php?m=49&post_id=11971

I kept an unofficial clock on each discussion. Here are the results, starting from longest to shortest:

    1. Bill Parcells, 55 minutes, 0 seconds. 2. Modell, 32:15. 3. Cris Carter, 30:30. 4. Jerome Bettis, 29:55. 5. Dave Robinson, 28:27. 6. Eddie DeBartolo Jr., 27:50. 7. Aeneas Williams, 22:45. 8. Andre Reed, 18:30. 9. Warren Sapp, 17:55. 10. Jonathan Ogden, 15:40. 11. Kevin Greene, 15:30. 12. Curley Culp, 13:21. 13. Michael Strahan, 13:13. 14. Charles Haley, 10:56. 15. Larry Allen, 9:02. 16. Will Shileds, 4:26. 17. Tim Brown, 3:45.

Is it possible that we are headed to this for the voting -- top 15 are finalists. Every one gets a presentation. No discussion. First round of votes gets you to 10. Next ballot is a vote for a top 5. Those five are inducted.

Sounds like Tim Brown should have stayed quiet.

And since it's never too early -- who do you think should be added to the 15 finalists next year?

The 10 holdovers will most likely be back. They have been the last couple of years. But I think Modell is going to be dropped. So that's six spots. I'm also convinced that Harrison and Brooks will be first-time picks. So that's four slots remaining. Here are the 12 semifinalists that were rejected. Who would your four be?

    Morten Andersen
    Steve Atwater
    Don Coryell
    Roger Craig
    Terrell Davis
    Joe Jacoby
    Albert Lewis
    John Lynch
    Karl Mecklenburg
    Paul Tagliabue
    Steve Tasker
    George Young

I bet the four they make finalists are Atwater, Craig, Coryell and Jacoby

I don't understand Robinson over Kramer simply becasue Robinson did not start until 1964. He made the Pro Bowl three times. Kramer was there for the duration of the championship run. Wierd.
