Just finished SmackDown, and if you missed it you missed a solid show. Punk/Fandango was a damn good match, and the triple threat between RVD/Christian/Orton was fantastic. Orton managed to turn RVD's Rolling Thunder into a scoop slam and executed it flawlessly. The man's got the best timing in the business. Now we know who Del Rio will face for the WHC.

SummerSlam is slowly building into a strong show.

That triple threat match was fantastic. And Orton countering the Rolling Thunder into a scoop slam was freaking great. He's gotten a lot better with his timing in the ring.

Pretty decent Raw tonight, complete with what I think was an Orton heel turn.

Orton, Cena and Bryan teamed up against the Shield. The match ended in a DQ. In the last minutes, Bryan gets pushed into Orton, who winds up on the floor outside. The Shield attacks Cena and Bryan but Orton jumps back in the ring and they clear the Shield out. After a few seconds, Orton hits the RKO on Bryan and eventually on Cena. He goes out of the ring to grab the MITB briefcase and is going to cash in, only to have the Shield come back to the ring.

Orton leaves and walks up the ramp as Roman Reigns spears Cena and Shield hits the power bomb on Bryan to end the show.

No way was that a heel turn. Not in my book anyway.

Now if he decides to join up with The Shield to secure the title, yeah.

In the old days, that could be seen as a heel turn, but nowadays, they just explain it like he was just looking to win the title. Excellent ending, though, and it keeps the Shield going as a threat after they were looking a wee bit stale.

And from the Total Divas show, we get to see the House that Fruity Pebbles Built.

Either way, that last segment was pretty damn good.

Crowd was pretty dead throughout the night for the most part. I'm glad SuperCena got a good boring chant from the crowd though. His promo made me want to vomit. Yes, rub it in our faces that if you were fired that you'd never wrestle again and live a life of luxury, but don't insult me by telling me it's so you don't tarnish the WWE Championship or your legacy. Please. Then criticize a guy who says he'd gladly keep working because he lives it? What a bunch of out-of-touch horse shit. And people still cheer for this guy? I don't doubt Bryan could the same to a smaller scale, but at least I don't have my face shoved in the shit. Kiss my ass, Cena.

I'm guessing Del Rio's reign will come to an end soon (is there someone he hasn't jobbed to in the past month? Even I've got a pin fall over him.) and maybe Christian is a transitional champ for someone else? RVD? I don't see a clear end game to this with Ziggler apparently out of the picture. Am I missing something?

Poor Miz, trying to put a brave face on being bumped to "host." Damn, dude, either you're due for a hell of a push in 2014 or you might as well call Dixie.

Punk/Lesnar is enough reason to buy the card, if I wasn't so damn broke.

Re: The Miz, I think the best case scenario for him professionally this point is as a part-time performer or behind the mic guy. At least according to Wiki, he's going to be in another straight-to-DVD extravaganza, and at least according to Stone Cold on his podcast, a dirty secret of the movie biz is that all of those $3 Walmart DVD bin flicks made on a minimum budget make money.

So, combine that with his injury history, and that he's 32 and turns 33 in October... I'm sure the finances are the same or equal if he's serving in roles like host, color commentator and GM (the last two being his ultimate role with WWE, if I had to guess) vs. wrestling in the middle of the card. And heck, I could see him having a Roddy Piper-like second half, where he goes from commentating a couple years right back to the top of the card when there is a power void at the top.

The Miz hasn't got it that bad. I've saw somewhere that he's now engaged to Maryse.

Anyone watching Total Divas? I'm catching it online on delay, and I know it's almost shameful to admit watching something as awful as this "reality" TV show. That said, I'm surprised at how much the curtain is pulled back. There are scenairos that scream "set up for the show" then there are instances of real stuff coming through. It's almost hard to tell what's real and what isn't.

Here are a few examples ...
Obviously set up for the sake of drama:
    1. The mixed tag match at Wrestlemania is pulled because Undertaker/Punk "went too long." Please. You really think anyone is telling those two to hurry it up so the mixed tag could get in? I really think this was a set up for the show.
    2. Eva Marie lying about knowing how to dance. The progression of the "story" is just too by-the-numbers.

Now the real stuff: The relationships are really out in the open, and everyone uses real names. Daniel Bryan is credited as Bryan Danielson. Jimmy Uso is Jon Uso. Naomi the Funkadactyl is really Trinity (I think). Bryan and Brie's marriage may damn well be on TV one day knowing VKM. Nikki brings up marriage to Cena, and there's a look of panic on his face. And he's not that good of an actor, we've seen his movies. Road Dogg was the agent for the WM mixed tag, and he's shown going over the match with the Bellas (who starts off, which moves to incorporate, everything but the finish). I don't even think Tough Enough went this far behind the curtain.

Now the stuff that just pisses me off: Cena's walk-in closet is bigger than my first house. Plus, he has an indoor pool with a water slide. I can't help but to drink the haterade.

Anyway, it's mostly a lot of forced-scenario reality bullshit that leads to cattyness between the women, but it's still a fascinating exercise in bluring the line between reality and performance.

Not necessarily on the too long part of wrestlemania. Sometimes matches go past their allotted time for whatever reason. Angle vs. hbk went long, but nobody minded because it was so good.
