This is what I see happening. Gets the WWE strap back on Cena, where they want it, and lets them set up a rematch to unify the title at the Rumble if they still want to go that route. Lets them unify the titles at a major PPV, and make the Rumble mean a little more since there will only be one title match at 'Mania, and the winner of the Rumble will be in it. Could see them having Punk win the Rumble and Cena unifying the titles to set up Punk-Cena part 79.

Could set up a card for 'Mania with Punk-Cena (been done but they'd still have a good match), Rhodes-Goldust, Bryan-Undertaker, and maybe Orton-Triple H (I could see seeds of this being planted tonight). Nice start to a card there. Maybe Bryan ends up winning the Rumble and faces Cena, and we get Punk-'Taker 2 instead. Either way would work for me.

Awesome angle for Cena but they need someone better than Orton to chase him. Could've been DB but they seem to have soured on that. Cena Punk part X?

I think the WWE is plenty smart enough to do that, but they always tend to be conservative when it comes to booking, at least IMO, unless pushed. They're happy to take the $X million a year that Cena brings in as the stable but boring champion, rather than risk it by turning him heel.

They'll go the heel route when they can find another babyface marketable enough to take over for Cena. Problem is, until recently, they've done such a shitty job at trying to push new faces that there hasn't been anyone with the potential to take over for Cena. I thought both Punk, as a rebel type, and Bryan had a chance, but the E blew it because they were too scared to take a risk.

I do have a feeling, if and when it ever happens, that Cena can be a helluva arrogant heel. I remember his first WM match with the Rock, when he tried to imitate the People's Elbow. He had this shit-eating grin on his face that would have been a great heel face.

I noticed Daniel Bryan coming down to the ring and handing a kid at ringside a towel. Surprise, surprise, it's on sale as the "Daniel Bryan 'Yes!' Rally Towel" on WWE.com. Before they really push someone above Cena, I feel like they are going to want to have a replacement for all of those merch sales. It's way more than t-shirts with Cena. He's got all of the arm bands, headbands, hats, dog tags, and so forth.

Do you think he has a chance to win the Rumble?

The way they've booked him the last several nights, I wouldn't bet against it.

If they have plans to book Reigns as the Rumble winner, they clearly don't have any near-to-medium term plans to unify the titles.

I think it's more likely that they give Reigns a 45-60 minute run finishing in the final four of the Rumble.

Looks like they may be considering bringing Bryan back as a minion of the Wyatts?

Or at least I hope not.

This seems like a horrible idea. If anything, I think it makes more sense to ally Punk with them, and have him go back to more of his Straight Edge Society persona.

Also, if they're not going to have Undertaker in a match this year (and I realize they're probably still far out from that anyway), it would be cool to have him involved in Mania as a surprise challenger to the Wyatts. Meaning, after whatever match they have, the lights go out in the building, and instead of their music, Taker's plays and he clears the ring. Then, have his yearly match be at SummerSlam, where there won't be the automatic expectation that he'll win, plus that show needs its buy rate propped up more than Mania.
