So the Heyman/Punk mastermind team couldn't come up with anything smarter than turning the lights out and having the shield interfere?

They didn't think to hire someone else to interfere, or get Punk DQ'd, or just walk out and take the countout?

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Rock is down from the attack. Vince orders the match restarted. Just whack him with a chair. Problem solved.

Or watch. We'll find out The Shield is working for Vince, because he hates how Punk has represented the company and held him up for money.

So does this happen again tonight at some point?

Speaking of Brock, he signed a two-year extension that runs through the Mania in 2015. And Jericho signed a short-term contract through this year's Mania.

There's always a chance that they do a Dusty Finish tonight and either declare the belt vacant or have the Board of Directors overrule Vince's restart because there wasn't enough evidence that The Shield was behind the attack.

The thing you have to remember about WWE is that for as schitzo as they are about booking plans, they generally treat the Road to Wrestlemania with more stability and foresight. If they've decided they want Rock-Cena II to be the main event, then everything is going to flow toward that. If they expect them to headline the biggest show of the year, they're not coming in on losing streaks.

    Fucking right.

And watching some old Savage matches on the WWE best-of DVD set I thought it was great to hear Monsoon and Ventura call the matches, that is talking about the moves and how they might impact the match and setting things up, not like Cole and Lawler who do anything but.

Here in Canuckistan, Ed Whalen and Ron Maurier were two of the great ringside voices.

Another Rumble thought: Cody Rhodes looks like half the cops I used to know when I was a crime reporter. Total cop-stache. It's why people hate it so much, and why it's so great as cheap heat.

I wish any of that would happen, but it won't. This is sort of the "careful what you wish for" division. We wanted more long-term planning. We got a year's worth of scripts pre-written.

It's almost absurd how good they've gotten at playing Lucy to my Charlie Brown, with Miz as the football.

"U.S. title match? That's how far Miz has fallen? Well, at least there's no way he'll job cleanly to Cesaro."

This is my hope. I have a hard time believing Punk/Heyman will just lay down after what happened last night and the WWE needs to make this whole thing a lot more interesting. You want Rock-Cena II? Fine, but give us something a little better than that crap last night along the way.
