I'm sure he would look more intimidating in public next to the average Joe, but Big E doesn't look that intimidiating, or, for that matter, that "Big".

I just looked it up. He's 290, but he's only 5-11. If you're going to call someone "Big", he better be 6-8 or something like that.

And I think it's a mistake to de-emphasize the Divas. They provided some variety each week. Even worse is that they seem like they're not even trying to develop some new ones anymore.

The Divas thrived 10 years ago due to the level of talent and the work of one Fit Finlay. Or so I've read.

It's been downhill for the Divas ever since the dawning of the PG era. Sad, but true.

They've got some pretty good Divas in training in NXT, led by some chick named Paige that I think was brought in primarily to be enhancement talent, only to be their biggest star. Maybe they're all coming in at once, part of an initiative from Teddy Long or Vickie Guerrero.

Also, the Big E. Langston-Mark Henry feud has deeper underpinnings than "angry black guy feud". Langston set some national raw powerlifting records when he competed. All of them have been broken. Who still owns a couple of national records in that weight division ... Mark Henry. I thought maybe they were holding Henry until they developed Langston a bit so they could go that route, but THAT'S WHAT I DO is too good to hold back for a face turn right now.

The Diva version of the Nexus/Shield would be hilarious.

  6. I kinda like Henry in this role and have for awhile, actually. Curious to see who his next big program will be with. Gotta think he'll be in one of the title pictures in pretty short order.

    The Dalkon Shield?

I think a chick version of Nexus or Shield could work, but the WWE would have to play it serious and/or let them beat up on some guys, which I frankly don't see them ever having the will to do. TNA had a pretty good, ratings-drawing women's division for a couple years that was a mixture of tits and actual wrestling, whereas the WWE has mostly abandoned it completely in recent months.

It wouldn't work because unless we're talking Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara, the male wrestlers would be much larger than the Divas, so much so that it would strain credulity. Chyna was a different creature. Generally, the other women workers picked their shots; you didn't see Lita or Trish straight up against a guy unless it was a joke or some sort of punishment/loading the dice deal. I remember when Awesome Kong was terrorizing the Beautiful People as a face, and they had Billy Gunn come in to take care of her. He never got a lick in and got squashed, but he was so much taller than her that it really took away from her mystique.

The other problem with a Diva Shield is that there aren't many Divas for them to target, and none of them move the needle. Do you really care if Kaitlyn and Alicia Fox and Tamina put aside their differences and band together against the interlopers? Unless they brought Trish and/or Lita back for a short run, it'd be hard to gin up a lot of enthusiasm.

Find your own NSFW link for this one: John Cena's ex-wife is claiming he had an affair with a porn star. The "actress" has denied it on her Twitter. And, no, that's not a euphamism.

In other news, video game maker Take Two has the WWE rights and will hire a lot of former THQ folks to keep the franchise going. No word on a WWE '14 release.

Makes you wonder when he starts, if he announces, "The Champ is Here!"
