I didn't understand it at first, but I like your system.

And I love reading the posts of someone who doesn't know or get your system.

Are you one of these people whose Week 1 poll is almost entirely based on who beat the best team in the opener?

My whole season is based on results from the season to that point. It's not "who do I think WILL be the top 25 by the end of the season" or "who I think is the better team" or whatever. Results matter to me. And early on, teams that beat up on I-AA programs don't get love over someone who plays major BCS schools to start. There are some really, really great match-ups to start the season. And I don't penalize teams for playing them if they lose, unless they get totally demolished. But I'm also not rewarding Baylor for playing (and routing) Wofford when other Big 12 teams start against LSU and Miss. State or Oregon for facing Nicholls State (and flirting with 100 points) when other Pac-12 schools are facing Northwestern and Auburn.

The only rule I have is that since there isn't a playoff in place (YET), the defending national champ is my No. 1 until they lose. They've earned that right.

My strategy is the defending national champ will be No. 1 until someone else is the national champ.

My strategy is to never vote Ohio State No. 1 in anything.

If you're looking at results, than margin of victory -- quality of performance -- should matter. Otherwise, you're just rewarding the SEC for playing its conference games in September without the appropriate drop in ratings later on, when SEC plays its 1-AA bums.

IMO, it's not a schedule poll. It's a performance poll. If LSU comes out and drops TCU by 35, OK. If LSU gets outgained by 115 yards but wins 17-15 because of a muffed punt and the usual bullshit LSU receives from the heavens to win games, perhaps that 65-point win by Oklahoma is better.

My method, incidentally, will frustrate some, too. I'll keep a 7-3 team in the top ten if I think they're a top ten team.

What if 80 of those 115 outgained yards are on a run on a busted play but the Tigers make a tackle at the 7 then hold on defense and allow just a FG?
