Agree - on the slicing of Karlsson's leg. However, I had a problem with Cooke's attempt to knee him in the ass, back or thigh.

When the NBC guys reported he had been cut, Achilles was my first thought when Karlsson could not apply any weight. The reports I've read so far indicate a lacerated, not severed, Achilles and I don't know if this laceration is tantamount to a complete tear. But the man has to have surgery. No doctor, but is sounds like it could have been worse and might still be.

Terrible for the Sens. Hope this is not longterm for Karlsson, the Sens and Sweden's Olympic effort.

If he has to have surgery on his Achilles there's no way he plays again this season and you have to wonder if he'd be ready to go next fall too.

You mean how he was trying to establish body position and pin Karlsson to the wall so he could start a forecheck? C'mon. I was among the first to blast Cooke for the things he's done in the past. But what he did last night was what happens countless times in every single NHL game. It's a freak accident.

No, what they're saying is, don't scalp these tickets because Leafs fans are already louder in the Sens building now than Sens fans.

Bush league move by a fucking' bush league organization .

The thrust of the campaign, the email later summarized, was to “not allow (tickets) to get into the hands of fans for our rivals.”

Such is the quality of sports-wise ideas emerging from the national capital region. Prime Minister Stephen Harper allegedly crafted his due-in-the-fall hockey book by spending most of a decade working each day for 15 minutes. The Senators’ marketing department appears to have mulled its brain wave to banish Leaf fans for all of 15 seconds.

Ottawa management, their fans and their players are the whiniest motherfuckers in the league.

This, of course, will encourage more Leafs fans to show up.

    This.

He is establishing body position by putting his knee between Karlsons leg which will contain him. Happens numerous times every single game.

He is still a slimy piece of shit, I hate defending him but this was a freak accident.

I don't disagree with much of this. Except - "happens countless times in every single NHL game."

Fortunately, for St. Louis, it did. Gotta give the kid credit for settling in and his teammates finding a pulse in the second and, particularly, third periods. As Milbury stated, he was undressed on the first goal. And a lot of NHL goalies would have failed to make that save. Goal two? bad. Third one? he should have been hugging the left post but showed good mobility getting back in the crease after the flurry left of the net. And he made key saves in the second period and another early in OT.

P-D reports St. Louis had 24 blocked shots. That stat, to me, tells the story of St. Louis finally showing heart. Protected the goalie and the defense sparked offense. The NBC guys were subtle in addressing the issue, but when Stewart has his head on straight, meaning highly motivated, he's a force.

Hitchcock said Allen will start Friday at Calgary so there's likely to be a pair of kids in net. Doesn't look like Irving was terrific last night against Dallas but didn't need to be. Good to see Cammy with a hat trick and Iginla throw some jacks.

Feaster says Miikka's out another two weeks.

The important difference is the height of the kneeing.

And shave the snark. I don't need to watch tonight or tomorrow or next week. I've watched enough over the years.

There was no snark intended. I'm saying it is not something most people even notice and nobody would have noticed what Cooke did last night if Karlson wasn't cut. What Cooke did was no different than what happens every night.

I think Aaron Ward describes it best.
