Yeah, he was totally faking it. He laid on the ice for several minutes and left a close game all to get a nothing like Hansen suspended.

I know sports fans are sports fans, but I have seen people seriously argue that Hossa sat out the entire third period of a close game against a major rival just to get some third-liner suspended.
