Crosby out indefinitely after having surgery for a broken that he suffered on Saturday.

Of all games for me to miss, I had to miss this one. Did watch the CBC 60 min replay later, but I can't believe I missed it the first time around. Not the same knowing what happens already. The Oilers are now 6-2-2 in their last 10 and tied with three other teams, one point out of a playoff spot. They have been playing much better the last few games. Still too inconsistent. Still need help defensively and a little more grit up front.

Damn. The only breaks that guy ever seems to get are bones.

Unless they stick Iginla on the top line, he still not be playing with a top centre. I find this more than a little humorous, not that I like to see anyone take a shot in the teeth like that

Your friend clearly doesn't know anything about hockey or hockey players. :)

    Hey Beef,

Is there any scenario where the Flames would make a deal with Edmonton?

It looks like the Flames are headed into full-scale rebuilding mode. Edmonton has been rebuilding for a few years and is a bit further along in their rebuilding mode, but could probably use an anchor defenseman and goalie.

In their history they have only ever made one trade together. I would be surprised to see them do another. But if they do there are a couple of players who could be in play, forward Curtis Glencross who has a history with the Oil already, but would give then a much needed physical element upfront with some scoring ability. Then on the back end maybe Giordano if they can get him cheap enough, but he has three years at $4 mil left and he hasn't quite matched the same level he showed two years ago when he got his five year $20 mil deal. But there's not a whole lot more their roster that the Oilers would get too excited about. I still have faith in Dubnyk in net, especially if Bulin can spell him effectively down the stretch. If you look at Kipper's numbers this year, they're tough to get excited about.

Yeah. Didn't Martin St. Louis get a root canal between periods in a playoff series and come back to play that night, or am I imagining that?

Couple more big trades involving the Dallas Stars today:
Vancouver Canucks get Derek Roy for defensive prospect Kevin Connauton and a second round pick

The Boston Bruins get Jaromir Jagr for forward prospects Lane MacDermid, Cody Paine and a conditional pick (At least a second rounder, becomes a first if Bruins reach East final).

TSN and Sportsnet start to panic as there are not many major names left on the market and a whole day to fill tomorrow, and some of those big names (ie. Luongo) likely are going nowhere.

How long do you think a baseball player would wait to play after an appendectomy?
