How the heck are they going to play an outdoor game at Dodger Stadium? I've never lived in California (only been there once), but doesn't the climate sort of make it difficult (or even impossible) to pull this off?

Hey, I covered Stanley Cup games at the old Boston Garden where it was hotter inside than it would be at night at Dodger Stadium in the winter.

But wouldn't a temp that high make the ice extremely crappy, no matter how good the ice-making system? Maybe I'm just totally off on this and if I am for some reason I haven't thought of, please let me know. Just doesn't make sense, for a number of reasons.

OK not NHL but OHL playoff game between Kitchener and London last night. Rangers leading 3-2 in 3rd.

Check out the video on this link, begin around the 1:25 mark. Tell me what you think of the play leading to the game-tying goal. I am admittedly biased.

I had someone tell me, with 100% seriosity, that it should have been called interference...on Bailey. WTF???

Which member of the London Knights family told you that?

I think the theory is the ice-making machine can crank out ice faster than it melts. It may not be the same, hard surface you get indoors, but doable.

I wonder what is the average temp in a typical indoor NHL arena? I didn't even wear a jacket last month when I went to a game and was plenty comfortable. I have nearly frozen to death in a few junior rinks, though.

Cold air sinks, so the temperature at ice level will be different from the stands. I've read that optimum air temperature is actually in the 60s to balance the cooling from below. Too warm and the ice will be too soft; too cold and the ice becomes brittle. With outdoor games in super-cold conditions like Edmonton, the ice probably has to be actually warmed a bit.

All we want is for the Bruins to win the NE division and the Leafs to end up in 5th and Les Canadiens in 4th

That would make a Montreal/Toronto first round match-up, a Canadian wet dream. The two teams haven't met in a playoff round in 34 frigging years. They play each other Saturday on HNIC.

    Damien Cox's column:

If this happens, there will be no other news in Canada.

"Leafs beat Habs in Game one. In other news, North Korea launches a nuclear attack on the US"

    Seriously.

    A Canadian wet dream
Yes, this is exactly what CANADA wants. I guess if Canada is southern Ontario and Quebec.

They can do it, but the ice will be shit.

The only reason this makes sense for them is from a dollars and sense stand point and all the exposure they would gain. Although I question how much exposure they would gain. Question for the SoCal SJ members, has hockey gained any more exposure since the Kings won the cup?
