Because they can does not mean they should.

LA is near the ocean. Temps will likely be higher. They'll be skating in slush in front of a crowd of 23,000.

The Vegas game was a preseason game held in September with a temperature at game time of 85 so I doubt the temperature will be higher in LA. The ice won't be great but it isn't in the majority of arenas these days to begin with.

I hate the idea but it is easily done. I understand the Winter Clasic, it's great for the game, once a year. It is ridiculous having 6 outdoor games, especially if they go to the Olympics next year.

Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking this.

FUCK OUTDOOR GAMES. PERIOD. THAT IS ALL

Leafs are in a tailspin, 3 horrid games (two losses) to Devils, Caps and Isles

They better snap out of it because if they keep this up they'll be four and out in the first round

They don't have enough time to blow it this year.

I can't see Chicago losing (a series) before the conference final, if even then.

Dad's been in an ICU so I've been out of the loop.

I agree with Mark's thought on Chicago above. Was able to watch a late-night replay of the Flames-Red Wings game the other night. I can't recall two more strange goals in succession than those Detroit gave up.

Don't know if Kipper's last home game was last night (Friday) or not (much of my life the past two weeks has been a blur). Wish him the best. Mike Vernon was very good, but Kipper gets the nod from me as best goalie in franchise history, including the Atlanta days.

Also been impressed with Columbus' late push. That franchise is in the right hands, finally. IIRC, the Blue Jackets have three first rounders this summer and a GM who will know how to use them.

Does Kipper surface somewhere next season?

Penguins did their part to support Boston in recent days. Bylsma and management were seen wearing "BOSTON STRONG" shirts that also sported the Bruins logo. Said all the right things. Did all the right things. Not that I found it extraordinary, but it was great to see the Penguins do what they could.

Flash forward to today, with Jack Edwards being Jack Edwards.

"The justification was that Cooke changed his ways after essentially assassinating Marc Savard. Nominating Cooke for the Masterton is about the equivalent of nominating Sirhan Sirhan as the prisoner of the year. An outrageous lack of judgment on the part of the Pittsburgh press."

Edwards was even defiant about it on Twitter during the first period.

Did not compare Cooke to a terrorist. Check your dictionary definitions before you run off the handle. Or just stop following.

He did apologize later on air, for no reason but "my conscious." He also tweeted multiple apologies. Whether any buys them, or should buy them knowing his history, that's something else.

    Stay classy, Jack.

OK, but Matt Cooke for the Masterson or Lady Bing is still a bit of a stretch, IMO.
