Am watching Leafs-Sens, and I just saw a diving penalty. I've been watching hockey for more than 20 years and I can't recall ever seeing one before. Are they rare?

    Not really.

The interesting part was the called the hook on van Riemsdyk, too. OK, the guy took a dive, but you also call the other penalty? Weird.

The diving rule is more of a public shaming than anything else.

"Yes, he tripped you but then you had to act like a soccer player"

Oh, Grapes. I appreciate the sentiment, but Jesus Fucking Christ.

That's usually how it's called, they are calling the embellishment.

Fair enough. Like I said, I can't remember ever seeing it before.

It happens from time to time. It's not supper common, but it does pop up.

I've never seen diving called independentkly of something else in an NHL game. Seems like it's always to even out another penalty.

Washington leading Montreal 4-0 in Quebec. Capitals look pretty darn good, even Braden Holtby, who I still consider their weak link.

Montreal looks pretty blah for an elite team.

Leafs beat the Sens 4-1 and clinch a playoff spot.despite being outshot 50-22

James Reimer may be the best goalie in the league right now.
