Not quite to offseason yet, so I rescued this from the depths of the archives for this.

Alain Vigneault has been fired as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. No word yet on replacement, but here are some possibilities.

All I can say is, it took long enough. Thought this would be done much quicker after their first round loss to the Sharks.

How many of those things are they going to have next season?

Kind of surprised it took him that long to get a job. His name kept popping in rumours with every vacancy for a few years, but didn't hear for the last couple.

Wonder what other former teammates Sakic is going to hire? Foote? Deadmarsh? Lemieux?

I always figured Sakic would just keep that job for a split second before handing it over to Bourque.

Agreed, and I recall his name being mentioned in relation to the Colorado job before. As it is, I'm looking forward to seeing how Roy turns out behind an NHL bench.

One rumor said Roy was offered the job four years ago and passed before Sacco got hired. Colorado has a decent base of young talent. If they can stay healthy, add a couple of veterans and get good goaltending, they could be a playoff team next season.
