And another one bites the dust. The Rangers have fired John Tortorella

My question is, which media organization is going to rush to hire this insufferable prick to be part of their panel for the rest of the playoffs am maybe next year?

Wow A bit surprised there. His well-publicized media rants not withstanding, Tort compiled a more than respectable record in New York. Curious to see whom they will target.

Two teams unveiled new jerseys for next season:
    The Carolina Hurricanes

Absolutely hate them. Could they get more generic?

    And the Dallas Stars

Which I actually quite like. A big departure from anything they've done in the past, but easily their best looking jersey since RBK Edge screwed up one of the nicest, most original jerseys in the league. The actual style of the jersey is nothing special, but they are the only ones in the league with the colour combo and I'm a big fan of the new logo.

The new Stars jerseys look great.

I don't hate the Hurricanes jerseys as much as you seem to, but then again they don't look all that different from last year's. Actually, it looks like their numbers might be 100% vertical now, which to me is an improvement.

Canes jerseys aren't that radically different from the current ones. No objection. Doesn't move me much either way, although we have far too many teams using red, black and white as a color scheme.

Dallas needs to ditch the green. Now they look like the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Green has always been their primary colour. It would be like recommending that the Maple Leafs need to ditch the blue because they look too much like the Indianapolis Colts. It's their colour. No one else does it. The closest would be the Wild, but the Stars have used it for decades. They'd be stupid to change it.

I just don't like the shade of green with the black as an accent color. I liked the North Stars uniform and the ones the Stars used about a decade or so ago.

I give them credit for being somewhat unique. In a league with 30 teams, it's silly for everyone to wear red, black or blue. I wish someone would bring back the old LA Kings purple and yellow, just for variety's sake.

The University of North Dakota called...they want their concept jersey back.

Seriously though...it looks like a generic hockey movie jersey, like something they used in that Seann William Scott movie "Goon".

Another season, another coach fired in Edmonton.

MacTavish calls a press conference at 4 p.m. on a Saturday to announce that he has fired Ralph Krueger, bit surprising due to MacT's introductory press conference where he basically absolved him of any blame in the Oilers collapse.

But also not surprised as GMs like to bring in their own guys.

Word is MacT was looking for an experienced assistant to pair with Krueger and decided it would be best to just bring in a new HC, big philosophical divide.

Dregger is reporting that Eakins will be the new HC, just have to put ink on a contract, verbal agreement apparently reached.

Sam Gagner, 23, has played in the NHL for six years and will be playing for his fifth head coach now.
