Based on this description of the Eagles' front office, it would not be out of the realm of possibility for Chip Kelly and the Eagles to go their separate ways. At the very least it sounds like that will be next year's Harbaugh situation, where a successful coach is gone after the season and everyone knows it from Day 1.

As screwed up as some college situations can be, ADs and college presidents still have to answer to alums and trustees in some cases. NFL owners and GMs can be as petty and rash as they like without fear of repercussions. How many owners control their teams without any previous demonstrable ability to run a business coherently? And those that have run a successful business figure the NFL is the same deal. The truth is - you can't fudge the books in the NFL (the financials - yes - but not the won-loss record) everybody knows how you really did.

    Ya think???

Cyclones fans are so happy with Paul Rhoades that if he goes 2-11 again, they'll throw him a party.

That's how much they hated Chizik.

Yeah, I suspect the talent base at Auburn was a bit better.

But your point is well-taken. There are a LOT of good coaches who can be successful in the right situation.

Would not surprise me to see Mike Shanahan resurface with the San Francisco 49ers.

Clearly all the speculation was wrong. Kelly gets full control of personal decisions:
