A guy just chose Virginia Tech over Marquette.

And the problem the Big East has is this - yes, right now it is still relatively close to the ACC.

But money, money, money - TV money - is going to change that quickly.

Big East teams won't be able to get into bidding wars for coaches like they once did. Jay Wright may stay at Villanova because he is a Philly guy, he makes enough and he doesn't want to leave.

But the playing field has been tilted once again away from the Big East

No question Amaker has a better job now. I just said if I were BC I'd be camping and fund raising to try and make it happen.

I know a lot of people are amazed the former WAZZU AD gave Bone a seven-year deal. The Cougs will have to pay the $1.7 million for those last two years.
I'm predicting Ernie Kent ends up in Pullman.

I would be really curious to see how Amaker would do at a top program. Given everything that was going on at Michigan when he was there, it's hard to blame him for most of that.

These Big East schools aren't fielding big-time football programs. They are going to have plenty of money to pay basketball coaches. And I didn't say the ACC wasn't better. I said it wasn't so much better to make any ACC job better than any Big East job. Plenty of people are still scratching their heads about Buzz Williams' move. He must have wanted to get the hell out of there for some reason, a la Frank Martin bailing on Kansas State for the first BCS conference job available to him.

If Coach K quit tomorrow who gets the Duke job?

That's a good question. How much say would K have in picking his replacement?

Tomorrow? Amaker or Dawkins. I think they're probably hoping the timing works out on Chris Collins.

BTW, watching the graying Amaker and Dawkins coach in the tournament has made me feel very old.

That would be my guess as well, unless they just promoted Wojciechowski (sp?), which I kind of doubt would happen.

Let's all pray they go with Quin Snyder. :D

Is he the Matt Doherty of Duke?
