Well, he did learn from Pitino.

It's almost as if he'd be doing something Pitino might do.

According to USA Today, the Pistons are going to target Izzo for their opening...

That certainly doesn't mean he'll take it, but you never know...

He did not do great at Seton Hall. He coached there four years and had a 68-55 record. They always had good early season records against easier teams, but were no better than average in the Big East at any point. They won two NCAA games in his third year, but things were a mess the next year. They had a 16-15 overall record and were 5-11 in the Big East. There was also trouble because Eddie Griffin, a troubled person, punched a teammate pretty badly. Amaker drew heat because he suspended Griffin for only one game. It is hard to make an argument that the Seton Hall program was better when he compared to when he arrived.

At Michigan, he didn't set the world on fire. Yes there was probation, but he had Michigan and wasn't terribly successful there.

Give him credit for what he has done at Harvard, but in two major conferences he was no better than so-so.

No way in hell. He wouldn't top off a guaranteed HOF college career with a 1 1/2-year shitburger-and-firing in the pros (pretty much his guaranteed outcome in the NBA).

He's already making multi-millions in college. The only thing the NBA can offer him is certain failure.

With the current condition of the Pistons franchise Jesus Christ couldn't win there within 5 years (by which time Izzo would be 65). No way in hell he wants to spend the last years before his dotage schlugging around airports with a 20-62 team laughing their asses off every time he starts talking about the way he used to do it in college.

I can't imagine him taking it either. Izzo doesn't strike me as the type who has an ego the size of Pitino or Calipari who might feel the need to try the NBA.

I think we would be stunned how many coaches didn't actually get their degrees when they claim they did. I know of a couple guys who got their degrees by correspondence a good decade after it says they graduated on their resumes.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. I get why USF pulled the offer though.
