I'd like to know a lot more about this. Vince Carter came back in the summers and took summer school classes. I know that for a fact because I was in summer school in Chapel Hill during that time and saw him on campus and in class. Every single day of summer school he parked his Bentley convertible in the dean of the journalism school's parking space and every single day he had a mess of tickets on the windshield afterward.

Based on what we know now, it wouldn't surprise me if some of his credits to finish up were in the sham AFAM department, but I know for a fact that he took summer school courses in other departments and was physically there and in class in the summer.

The crazy part about that is I can think of two prominent faculty members at my alma mater - one in journalism (Jim Shumaker) and one in English (Daniel Wallace) - who did not have degrees until years after they were hired. Universities often have the ability to hire people onto the faculty who don't meet the normal academic requirements if their career accomplishments suggest they are appropriate to hire.

Lying about having the degree is a whole other ballgame, though.

Hopefully someone who think better than to hire a rapist as a college coach.

Yeah, in this case it's not the crime. It's the cover-up. If Masiello was honest about his degree (or lack of one), he'd be at USF today.

He was fucked once he lied.

How can he honest with USF? Do you tell them that you don't actually have a degree, even though it's on your resume? How is that going to fly?

The only way you can possibly fix it is to self report while safely employed. But, even then, most schools won't be ok with that. You could also correct it if you weren't currently employed as a coach, but that's unrealistic for most of these guys too.

Off the ladder he goes. Love when these slick talking coaches get their comeuppance
They all seem to filter through NY. The last guy to be knocked off ladder was Bobby
Gonzales who was also at Manhattan before he went to Seton Hall. Still not back on
    the ladder.

Unless I'm mistaken, college hoops staffs don't have GA positions which are used to bring in former fb players to finish up their degrees. Seems like a position like that could be added for prospective coaches/former players wanting to finish up.

They do have GA positions - my brother-in-law is a hoops GA right now. He's getting his master's, though. In his case, his college coach wanted to get him on staff, but didn't have an actual assistant spot for him, so he hired him as GA to get him in the door.

Masiello has yet to admit anything... I'm guessing he's trying to see if he can buy off UK to lie for him. :D

I just flash back to the Tom Collen-Vandy deal where he lost out a huge job and couldn't get his old job back because the school made a mistake when revealing his graduate work.
