Yup- something about discrepancy in registrars office. He's buying time.

It can be more complicated than that. I don't think this is the case with Masiello, but I know tons of people who have gotten their actual diploma years and years after the fact because they didn't bother to pay an on-campus parking fine or something like that... I would certainly hope that if someone had outstanding fines and a potential employer called up to confirm graduation that the answer would still be yes.

Happened to me. Walk across stage get handed nice padded folder
but instead of diploma a nice note from registrars office about a
non paid fine from Junior year. A clean up fee for recycling beer
cans out our dorm window as opposed to taking them to bin. Took
care of within the hour and got diploma.

Reports say Louisville assistant Kevin Keatts is getting the UNC-Wilmington job. I knew him when he was at Hargrave Military Academy coaching a team with Sam Young and Joe Alexander. He's risen up the ranks pretty quick.

Can't really call NC State his alma mater if he didn't graduate.

Which is why I always found it interesting -- and, of course, factually correct -- that in the spot in NC State's media guide and game notes in which they list the coach's name and school, it was always "Sidney Lowe, St. Paul's, 2006."

Oh, it was definitely an age thing. Her birth date isn't listed anywhere either. I'm not sure if I could have even gotten that information out of her. (I'm sure I could have with an FOI request, but that would have look pretty bad, hitting up a fellow staff member in a small department with that.)

One university I worked at, the issue came up with a golf coach, who was a really good coach and nice person. After being there two years, it came to light that she had attended a certain university but never graduated. The whole athletic department seemed split over the issue.

Neither the university as a whole nor the athletic department had anything in writing that required employees to have any specific level of education. I never found out if she had CLAIMED to have earned the degree or not, but felt it was splitting hairs.

Oh, my. I did keep the actual piece of paper. So if anyone asks 30 years later, I can show it to them.

I was surprised Manhattan put him on leave, didn't realize he was still technically the HC there when he got the word from S.Florida.
I can imagine him weeks away from being done and jumping on a chance to join Tulane's staff during the Final Four meat market - but you would think he would have nailed it down at some point along the way.

Fang Mitchell out after 28 years at Coppin State:

They've been terrible lately, but he had a hell of a run. Most notably, his 15-seed beat 2-seed South Carolina in 1997.
