2014 College basketball coaching carousel thread...

I remember back in the 90s when they would go on these killer road trips early in the season, stuff like Kansas State one night, Oklahoma State the next, Texas the next, Illinois two nights later, then Michigan the next day, etc. I have no idea when those players went to class in November and December, but then they'd crush their league and enter the NCAA Tournament with a bad record but very seasoned and a prime upset candidate.

He got a very tepid vote of confidence on Friday. Essentially he kept his job because he has three years left on a $1.4 million contract and the school did not want to buy him out. He's gone after next year for sure because the Beavers are going to be WSU-level bad. He does everything right except coach.

Word in Knoxville is the Cunozo met with Marquette yesterday; given his tenuous hold on the UT job before the NCAA run, I'm guessing that means one way or another, UT will be looking for a new coach next week.

But it will NOT be Pearl.

 

Has a coach ever been fired after making the Sweet 16, unless cheating was involved?

I think he is probably smart enough to take the Marquette job, so I doubt it will be an issue.
