Mizzou hires Kim Anderson -- 59 years old, never been a DI coach and was rejected the last three times the job was open.

Cost them $50K to a search firm too.

I'm sorry, but no AD worth a shit at a major school should need a search firm.

I have no idea what to think about this. Has to be better than Haith, at least.

I don't know. Mizzou didn't think so when they chose Haith over him last time.

Ha, my defense to that was that Mizzou was clearly incompetent in hiring Haith. Of course, the same people are there now ...

In an ideal world this would be just like John Paxson picking Vinny over Thibs and then two years later grabbing the guy he should've got in the first place. I can dream, right?

    Nor the time before that.

well Anderson did coach circles around Haith when Mizzou played UCM in an exhibition game last fall. . . .

I get why a school like USF hires a search firm. Maybe the AD doesn't have the connections and they're trying to cast a wide net to see who is interested.

Anderson could have been hired with a single phone call and a background check.

If they couldn't pluck Gregg Marshall or take a flyer on Ben Howland, Kim Anderson was the only choice.

I see Mizzou now with all the leverage. They didn't have to buy out Haith, they could offer Anderson peanuts and, if he disappoints next year, fire him and get their real choice.

Central Missouri was also a stepping stone for Phog Allen, Joe B. Hall and Gene Bartow, who combined have eight Final Fours to Mizzou's none. So maybe they figure Anderson can get one. On the other hand, Jim Woolridge also stopped in Warrensburg, so it's not a guarantee.

You always do a background check.
