I don't disagree with any of this, but the Cavs and the Bucks both seem to foolishly think they're only a player or two away from being a playoff contender. I mean, they're in the East, so that might be the case, but to me they both have lots of holes and question marks on their roster, and shouldn't be pursuing a "win now!" mindset.

Agree with that, too. No reason to chase the No.8 seed. I think Parker is the win-now pick. I fully expect him to win RoY. He's more polished on the offensive side. Wiggins game will need work, but I think he'll be the better player in 3 years.

Doesn't loving the Sixers crush him enough?

if you are Cleveland and Milwaukee and Wiggins won't mature into an accomplished player for 2-3 years, why draft him? Why would Wiggins stay in Cleveland or Milwaukee after his rookie contract expires if he can choose to play for a more desirable team just as he develops into a better player?

Wiggins is more suited for the NBA and I think he'll surprise a lot of people of the offensive side of the ball. I think he joins his Canadian friends Bennett and Thompson in Cleveland.

Plenty of players stay with teams that drafted them - there are financial reasons to do so. Kevin Love will be leaving the Wolves after six or seven seasons, and LeBron left Cleveland after seven seasons, which was plenty of time for both teams to do more to keep them in the fold. Thanks to restricted free agency, Bird rights and other fun things, the team that drafted you almost always can pay you the most, unless you're traded to another team.

If Parker or Wiggins are even decent next season, I would think the Cavs would be pretty close to being a playoff contender next season. If Bennett shows any level of improvement, that would help as well.

    The Bucks? That's another story.

Cleveland finished five games behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot, and the Hawks figure to be better this year if Horford comes back healthy. The Cavs aren't expected to be able to re-sign Deng, so Wiggins or Parker in for him is probably a wash this next year. Charlotte at #7 is probably the most likely to fall out of the playoffs, but they finished 10 games ahead of the Cavs. Brooklyn is old and creaky, and finished 11 games ahead of the Cavs for the #6 seed. Plus, while Detroit's roster isn't ideal, they now have Stan Van Gundy, so they strike me as possibly the best chance of getting into the playoffs, even if they were four games worse than Cleveland.

I think people would have been stunned if he didn't opt out.

Would be awesome if Carmelo signed in Miami and then LeBron went back to Cleveland.

They were saying on ESPN that the Lakers had enough cap space to sign both LeBron and Carmelo.

I hope Carmelo goes to Chicago. I don't think LeBron goes anywhere.
