The Nets were pretty damn good during the second half of the season after an abysmal start.

You're both right, but they did this so publicly and unabashedly, basically acting like Drew wasn't even their coach. It was really shitty. Amateur hour.

Completely agree. It's all business, but it was really, really shitty.

Thinking more about Kidd, there is the possibility that the Nets burned the Bucks with a leak, and the fact that the Bucks got fleeced for two picks would seem to support that. The lesson: do not negotiate with a Russian oil oligarch.

It's almost ludicrous to figure that Drew would have remained as coach if they weren't able to work out the deal to land Kidd. They really needed to tell Drew they were going to go in another direction first. But to not do that, and to have Drew address the media Thursday night to talk about the players they had just drafted, that was really an ugly mis-step.

Try and make me like someone less than I like Jason Kidd.

It doesn't really matter. It's just the Bucks.

Excluding a handful of the bottom NHL teams (because that's a very distant #4 sport at best), there isn't a less relevant franchise in American professional sports. I will be glad to never hear from Jason Kidd again.

Given the Nets' track record on other things since he took over the team - hiring Billy King in any role, going with Kidd last year, the iffy Celtics trade, the Gerald Wallace deal (not sure if that was on his watch or not) - I think it's generous to attribute anything positive to the Russian's negotiating skills.

Per a memo obtained by Grantland's Zach Lowe, the Nets lost $144M when it came to basketball operations this year: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/grantland-exclusive-the-jason-kidd-mess-has-a-144-million-pricetag/ - The next closest team was the Wizards, at $13M. Five top teams in profit from basketball operations? Lakers ($100m), Bulls ($61M), Rockets ($40.7M), Celtics ($33.1M) and Thunder ($29M).

    Loved him as a player.

As a person, that's another story.
