If you're allowed to discount entire years of Jordan's playing career as not really part of his playing career, then I'm allowed to discount games that aren't triple-doubles as not being triple-doubles.

I think you're as devoted to the LeBron idea (or maybe the "who can say?" idea) as anyone else is to the Jordan idea.

Jordan WAS the Bulls during that fourth quarter. Then they used him as a decoy on the final play. (Actually I'd guess it was probably in his control to see if he could find a lane coming up the court, but KJ was quick enough not to give him that lane.)

Overall what we had was Jordan playing probably his greatest individual series ever against a team that won five more games than the Bulls and had home-court advantage. I don't think you make a lot of sense with the "Jordan flinched against the Suns" argument.

He could have averaged 50 this year and they weren't winning it. The Mavs one is the one where people can have a legitimate beef with him about.

If you want to use the Wizards years to make your argument better, that does not work in your favor.

Durant had a better season. There's no issue with him winning the MVP this season. LeBron is still the best player in the game.

So if the Heat had lost to Pacers like the Bulls did to Detroit...

Assuming this is referring to the NBA finals, both James and Jordan, along with every basketball player in history, are 0-0.

It's very central to the cult of Jordan to make sure that large chunks of his career don't count.

I haven't used them for anything. I'm just pointing out the absurdity of the idea that somehow they don't count in his career totals. Unless that was someone else in a Michael Jordan suit, they count just the same as every other year.

Yeah, two years at a different position, at age 38/39 and after a three-year layoff. I'm OK saying that's not part of the Jordan I'm talking about.

Kareem only averaged 10 points a game in his last year, and shot below 50 percent for the only time in his career. That should drop him a spot or two in the all-time rankings.

Tough shit. He should've thought about that before he came back.

Oh, but he is. Hell of a comeback story.
