Absolutely. But all of that is fair game to consider when debating if that person is the greatest of all time.

Back to the boxing analogy, if you look at primes, Mike Tyson is the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. But I can't in good conscience vote for someone as the GOAT who got knocked out by Danny Williams and Kevin McBride, even if it was when he was older.

He did not win the regular season MVP, Playoffs MVP or NBA Finals MVP. So there is doubt as to if he was even the best player in the NBA this season. The most potential? Yes. The best player? Sorry...Kevin Durant took those honors.

So Durant is the best and Kawhi Leonard is No. 2?

No, the argument was that LeBron was the BPITW this year...I dispute that.

And whoever won the all star game MVP is third. Malone was better than Jordan and so on and so on.

There is not an intelligent basketball fan in the world who would take Durant over James.

Steve Nash wasn't better than Shaquille O'Neal in his first MVP year.

Kevin Durant was better than LeBron James this year and deserved his MVP award.

All we need to know about Bitter Bens argument is that he believes the additions of Hughes and Donyel freaking Marshall were big additions. He's a hurt Cavs fan.

How can he be the best in the league? Tim Duncan beat him in a one on one battle in the playoffs. I think they played to 21.

Not only was Durant better than James this year, OKC was WAY better than Miami. OKC really does need to get rid of Westbrook, find another star and another presentable point guard (preferably the same person). Westbrook is the modern day Iverson.

It's very interesting to see how many folks here believe in blowing up rosters in response to postseason adversity. It's a time-honored formula for catastrophe, but it assuages the anger of the "the best players are always to blame" crowd.

Where's the blame for Durant for not beating Duncan? He even had a better team as you stated than James did.
