They have not won anything since they signed Moss.

Pretty remarkable the team has had seven different leading receivers in Brady's 13 seasons as a starter.
Including scrubs David Givens and Reche Caldwell.

So this is reverse logic at its best. The worse the receivers are, the better Brady looks. So let's get the worst receivers possible, cause we'll save some coin and Brady will play even better. Is that it?

Part of his greatness is that he has elevated the play of very average players.
Take a look at the offensive complement of players on the 2001 team.
There is a lot of trash on the three Super Bowl championship teams.

Something like six backs ran for more yards in Super Bowls than Brady passed for in Super Bowl 36. The 2001 Pats were by no means a quarterback-oriented team. They were defense first.

True, but clutch quarterbacking also pulled out several games for them that season.
Including the Super Bowl and conference title game.
Agreed with Joey T when he said you can't hide your quarterback for very long in the league.

I agree that usually you need to win a SB to be great but I will never forget that 2007 Patriots team, 15-0, undefeated up to the SB, highest scoring team at that time, Brady and Moss at the height of their greatness? That was an amazing team that somehow lost because of an unbelievable catch by Tyree.

They lost because the other team just blitzed the shit out of them.

Oh, I agree with that. Ditto for Manning, Rodgers, Brees, etc.

But it doesn't change the fact that as a GM, you try to upgrade areas of your team that need it. I can't make the case that if the Patriots had an all-pro receiver, they'd somehow be worse.

A lot of it is just coaching philosophy.
Shanahan's Broncos knew they didn't need a star running back post-Davis.
Belichick preaches the team concept, and you don't get the sense it's BS talk with him.
