Well, the Chargers did it with Eli Manning/Philip Rivers in 2004 when they already had Drew Brees.

And Tony Romo is 34. He can't go on forever.

Drew Brees wasn't Drew Brees yet.

No, he can't. But he can't go on for much past September with a Manziel-Romo controversy that'd start tonight if the Cowboys drafted Manziel.

I don't know if the Chargers are the best example because they could of had Brees tossing passes to Fitz, LT and Gates, if I remember that draft correctly.

    NFL Network or ESPN tonight?

I flipped to NFLN a few years ago having tired of Berman. However, Eisen started to wear on me by last year. I might be switching back and forth this evening.

FWIW, McShay was on Cowherd this morning and stated the Bills had discussed a trade up with Houston and I just about drove off the road, though the thought of Clowney in Buffalo allowed me to dream a bit.

Got Bruins-Canadiens tonight, plus more NBA playoffs. The Internet will handle my draft needs.

In the final analysis, the draft is a list. It doesn't need sound, so it's just right for the Web. I'll check in between periods, and won't miss a thing except a whole lot of shouting well worth avoiding.

I will confess to being intrigued by some of the mini-dramas that often play out. Insofar as analysts, there are so many of them now, it's not so much any shouting that bothers me but the inability of some to articulate.

Are people really still on this Manziel to the Cowboys crap?

That is not happening. First of all, the hard-on Jerry still has for Romo is bigger than any hard-on he could have for Johnny Football. Jerry REALLY wants to show everyone he can win with Romo. Plus, the cap hit for getting rid of Romo in the foreseeable future is ridiculously huge.

Then there's this: “I’m not that gunned up at what a rookie quarterback could do for us this year. That takes time,” Jones said. “This isn’t rebuilding time."
