So the Texans are the only team still expected to take a QB not to have picked one yet - no way they take David Carr's brother right? They're "on the clock" and the Raiders select fourth tomorrow.

I share the same brain with GoochMan....

Cowboys needed defensive help and took an OT. I count 11 defensive players that went in the first round after Cowboys' pick. Not like someone wasn't available that might help.

That 2011 draft was terrible for QBs. Locker, Gabbert and Ponder. Lockout made QB-desperate teams reach big-time.

I do think the Texans will go with Carr (Derek), but they could pick Garoppolo, I guess. My best available for Friday are Carr, Jernigan, Lee, Ealy, Nix, Moses, Hageman, Su’a-Filo, Tuitt, Kouandjio, Borland and Bitonio.

If the suggestion is that the Raiders are thinking QB, that just doesn't make sense to me. I know Schaub went into free-fall last year, but they didn't acquire him for nothing.

(OK, they did acquire him for nearly nothing: the No. 5 pick in the sixth round. But still.)

They also didn't aquire him as a long term solution.

Well, then I doubt they'll be acquiring Derek Carr or Tom Savage as a long-term solution, either.

Loved that the Saints were aggressive and traded up to get the guy they wanted. Cooks is a prototype Saints WR: tall, fast with good hands, and you can never give Brees enough good targets.

Saints came into this draft in a peculiar situation. They've got several areas of concern (LB, DB, OL, DL), but nothing that is a screaming need. They can take the best player available whenever their number comes up and not have to worry about addressing a particular area.

I'm beyond thrilled that Deone Bucannon went in the first round. Sweet.

Cooks isn't tall - him being 5-10 was the only thing held against him. But agree - he's just a solid dude.

Yeah, it would just be so odd for a quarterback taken after the first round to develop into a long-term option. :D

After years and years of criticism for not always doing so, Jerry actually drafted to his board. They had Martin rated significantly higher than the defensive players still available, and it's not like they were set at guard. That was clearly still a position of need.

They had a group of players they were hoping would fall to them. From all reports, Martin was the last of those left. When Manziel fell to them, the Cowboys figured the trade offers would come flooding in. When they didn't, Jerry looked at his board and took the top player left on it.

They have other picks. They'll likely address defense before long.
