Wouldn't have guessed that Southward would go before Borland.

Exactly. I think it's more interesting as it relates to Mallett -- who they drafted in the third round three years ago, and who was seen as a possible eventual replacement for Brady. As long as they're winning 12 games a year, getting close to the Super Bowl, and Brady is upright he's the guy. They'll dump players around him before they dump Brady.
Also interesting to note, is that Garoppolo is the third quarterback the Patriots have drafted in the third round or higher since 2008.

Always thought that anything with Hilliard in it is LSU but can see your point

I cannot express how offended I am by the race card you played in this post. I guess you weren't fooled by everything positive I said about Teddy Bridgewater, no, you saw right through me.

As to the substance of your post, I anticipated SF losing a lot of defensive players only if they have to pay Kaepernick big money. If Bridgewater is the answer at QB for San Francisco, then they could use that money to keep those defense players. The opportunity cost here is the one defensive player they took at #30. The money gap between Bridgewater on a rookie contract and Kaepernick on a big money contract will be worth a lot more than one defensive player.
The NFL is now about value. Kaepernick is worth a lot more than he is making, but he's not worth what he will make on his second contract. Good QBs who make great QB money didn't have such a good year. (Eli, Big Ben, Flacco). Add Kaepernick to that list in a few years.
Teams who move a year or two early win in the NFL. Snark plus conventional wisdom usually doesn't.

    LOLZ.

Get rid of a 26-year-old quarterback who is damn near a two-time Super Bowl winner because in your vaunted professional estimation you can replace him with Louisville's quarterback and not miss a beat.

Did I say fucking genius? I meant FUCKING GENIUS.

Drafting Bridgewater and dumping Kaepernick would be like buying a $1 lottery ticket for $5.
Always take the bird in the hand in the NFL. Always.

Exactly. As silly as I find printit's thinking, it is even more ridiculous to talk about a guy being "damn near a two-time Super Bowl winner." That is something you either do or you do not do.

Of course, playing the race card is just as ridiculous, so I really think it is just a matter of LTL showing a case of the runaway fanboy.

There are only 2 good quarterbacks over the last 2 years, Flacco and Wilson. Winners win.

So, who exactly are you constructing that foolishness for?

I find it funny that Manziel was drafted in the same spot (22) as Brady Quinn AND Brandon Wheedon.
