the city that never sleeps is LA now, not NYC?

Great start for the Final with overtime. L.A. won't deliver a huge number like Chicago would have, but if it goes seven and they're all like this, NBC won't pout. And expect a big number for Game 2 with a big audience lead-in from the Belmont.

And there it is. Kings win.

And the next game isn't until Saturday. Crap.

It looked like the Rangers were quicker most of the night and LA had trouble handling the puck at times. Don't know if humidity is a big factor at Staples Center.

Los Angeles seems to always adjust so well in-game. In this case, the Kings simply grinded the Rangers down. Fun game to watch. Hope the series continues to be that way.

One thing that bothers me about the Rangers, and my daughter-in-law the Rangers fan says it's been a chronic problem for years, is their unwillingness to shoot the damn puck. They get into the opposing zone, then try to make the extra pass or try to find the perfect shot. The Kings, by contrast, fired the puck at the goal any time they had a chance, because you never know when you might sneak one in, and that's what happened in OT.

You and your daughter-in-law are perceptive. I think it was Carl Hagelin who addressed the very subject in post-game last night.

True. I thought the shot total (43-27) was a little misleading. Not all shots on goal are good quality scoring chances. True, they might sneak in so not a bad play to shoot. But the numbers don't always tell the whole story.

The last few minutes of this first overtime period have been crazy. Both teams with stellar chances to score. Not so much the goalies making saves, but players missing nets.

LA got a big break when goaltender interference wasn't called on one of the goals when Lundqvist got hammered.
