But not all of us were old enough to remember that.

So much for Jonathan Quick having a bad playoffs. No, he doesn't have the numbers that he did in the 2012 Cup run, but he's come up big when the team needed him in the 5-4 wins and in Game 7s at San Jose and Anaheim. And he helps the Kings kill six penalties in the 3-0 win at New York on Monday.

    '93 was the outlier.

But as someone who grew up in L.A. rooting for a 4th-place hockey team every year, it really is satisfying to watch the Kings the last 3 years.

Being the highest scoring team in the playoffs since 96 is the reason they are a game away from another cup, not Quick.

That's total goals, right? Little misleading because they played all 7-game series until now. I would think others have averaged more per game, but LA definitely has turned on the offense. There was a stretch in late January where I think they had less than 3 goals in 10 straight games.

They are averaging 3.5 goals per game which is unheard of these days.

If they had scored at the rate they did in the regular season they are sitting at home right now.

I was going through LA's results during the regular season, wondering if maybe they scored more goals in games against SJ/ANA/CHI because those teams can open it up a bit and the games would be more firewagonish.

But no - in the five games against the Ducks, they scored 7 goals. Four goals in three games against Chicago. Games against San Jose were a little different, with 13 goals in 5 games. Finally, against the Rangers, who don't really open it up, two goals in two games.

    Weird.

    Carry on.

I have not heard a single broadcaster or read any writer state Jonathan Quick is having a bad playoff.

We are reading completely different things, he hasn't been good for the majority of the playoffs. although he was sensational last night.

Minor disagreement. He has not been as consistent this post season. But I'll admit I'm as guilty as anyone in basing my opine on the standard he's set.

But I still have not heard or read anyone other than Mark refer to his overall play as bad.
