Plenty of chatter to that effect on the NBCSN hockey shows.

Listening to the "analysts" on NBCSN was your first mistake.

Agreed, although saying Quick has not had a good post season is not exactly going out on a limb.

I'm of the opinion a team cannot win three seven-game series and be on the cusp of winning the Stanley Cup with bad goaltending.

I'm more insulted by the continued narrative that Lundqvist is the GREATEST GOALIE OF HIS GENERATION EVAR! and yet he doesn't have a ring. It was a joke of a narrative before the Final began, as if the Rangers getting to the Final validated it all.

Is he good? Yes. Is he very good? Yes, he is.

You know what, though? Quick carried the 8th-seeded Kings to the Cup 2 years ago.

Wake me up when Lundqvist carries the Rangers to a Cup as any seed.

The old rings argument. You can't carry bad teams to cups.

Why not? It's been done before.

    You can outscore your mistakes.

Go ahead and cite some examples, please. Bad goaltending - not average, inconsistent.

EDIT: don't forget the three seven-game series criteria.

I think a goalie can carry the team when a scoring draught hits because it takes just a handful 1-0 or 2-1 OT wins to swing momentum.

Kings had no right winning the Cup in '12. Quick was the reason they did.

They were down 3-0 in the first round this year -- Sharks scored 20 goals those 3 games.

Quick gave up 3 in Game 4, pitched a shutout in Game 5, and gave up 2 goals the next 2 games.

With all the love he gets it seems like Lundqvist would have had one of those magical runs by now.

Jesus Liut, at best Quick has been average, at best. He has a .910 save pct which is below avg and it took a shutout last game to get there. They are this far not due to Quick , not even close. They are this far because they have outscored their mistakes. This does not mean he hasn't had good games, he has but overall he has been average at best and that's a reach.

This does not mean he is shitty or not capable of stealing games it just means on a whole throughout these playoffs he has not been good.

Please don't come back with the antiquated big save as the right time crap. They wouldn't need those saves if earlier saves had been made.

As for poor goaltending never getting teams to the final, off the top of my head just look at the Flyers, Blackhawks series with Niemi and Leighton.

If you think he's been good, that's fine, I have no idea what you base that on but to each their own.

LA was much better than their record in 12 and had a much better team that the Rangers have had for Lundquist but you're right there are times that a goalie can take a team on one of those rides.

Look at Hasek form 93 to 01 in Buffalo, no rings but the best goalie in the game and maybe the most dominant stretch a goalie has ever had.

I'm not saying Quick is bad I'm just commenting on this post season.

I did not say he has been good. My entire point is he has not been bad.

I'm not trying to be anal with you, JC. Heck, I have a lot of respect for your opines. I suppose it boils down to each individual's definition of bad.
