Rangers were living on borrowed time as it was. A classic call by Emrick. Rangers ZERO goals in the series after the second period. Ten Goals in the first or second period (10 periods) 0 in third, OT and 2OT - (10 periods).

I'll say this for Bettman, he didn't need notes to reel off the names - ahem (Bud Selig)

One of the best/worst nights of the sports year.

Best: Handshake line from the Cup Final. The announcement "Ladies and gentlemen, the Stanley Cup." The team photo.

Worst: No more Doc Emrick for four months.

And that was a terribly bogus tripping call. The Kings player is the one who stuck out his leg and then LeBron'd.

Maybe not to this extent, but the Kings were the better team in the third period throughout the playoffs.

This final series ends up 4-1, but three of the Kings victories were in OT. It's easy to say that because of three OT victories the series was really a lot closer than 4-1. Then again, it was almost as if the Rangers were never going to score in the overtime so every OT game was inevitable.

Well, that was fun. Start to finish, one of the better playoff seasons in recent memory.

Hats off to the Kings. Easy to forget they had to win FOUR straight elimination games to avoid being bounced in the first round. Then the three Game 7 road wins. And this series was a lot closer than the final numbers appear.

Gotta figure LA should be good again next year. But there's so much parity that I dare say repeating has never been more difficult.

All in all, lot of fun to watch.

The Rangers had tons of chances in overtime. Tonight they hit the post two or three times in the OTs. I wouldn't say that was inevitable.

I've been a Kings fan for 40 years and the idea they won one Cup, let alone two in three years is unbelievable. So many years of mediocrity and now on top of the world.

My night in a nutshell. And I'm on the West Coast.

Have a nice summer, San Jose Sharks.
