As far as I can tell, Brock isn't in the Rumble match, at least officially.

So, 25 names and five surprises. One could be Brock. But I thought he was the No. 1 contender after the Rumble anyway? And how close to returning is Sheamus? He could make a surprise comeback. Maybe Bryan is a surprise entrant? No telling who could show up. Jericho? Does the Undertaker make an appearance? I doubt he shows until Elimination Chamber. So many returns right now that there needs to be a little breathing room. Brock, Batista, maybe Sheamus (surely some people remember him).

There always seems to be at least one old-timer in there. Could this be Jake Roberts' big moment?

Guessing there won't be any huge surprises, because you'd think Sheamus would warrant some sort of build-up to his return -- unless he wins, and all roads are pointing to Batista. Can't imagine Lesnar would agree to wrestle two matches, as he's already slotted to face Big Show. RVD would be a pleasant surprise, as he's a big enough name to get a reaction without sparking expectations that he might actually win. I expect Bryan to be in the match, but if they're trying to get people excited about a Batista push, having him in the Rumble with Bryan won't help. Maybe an NXT guy debuts, pulls off a shocking elimination, then enters a short feud with the eliminee (think Maven dumping Undertaker however many years ago). Definitely expect a couple of old names. Can Jake take an over-the-top-rope bump? Can they orchestrate a way to get him out of the ring without exposing the whole thing?

That was Bo Dallas vs. Wade Barrett last year.

As for Jake, maybe he can get tossed over the ropes onto the apron, and then get bumped off? Looks like he's in relatively good shape, at least compared to his last time on Raw about 8 years ago and he got RKO'ed by Randy Orton.

I *knew* someone other than Maven had done it since. And I knew Bo Dallas came up briefly to do something with Wade Barrett. But I completely forgot it was at the Rumble.

25 of the spots have been filled, and I highly doubt Bryan will be in the Rumble -- as much as I'd to see it. Rumors are that two of the spots could be taken by Hogan and Piper, who has been somewhat teasing a match between the two for a while now.

Hogan can't even drop the leg anymore. I don't think he can take a bump over or even through the ropes. Ditto Piper. Perhaps they make some sort of appearance at the show, but not the Rumble itself.

I counted 20 spots filled on wwe.com. Am I missing someone? Who are the other 5 to get it to 25 mentioned above?

One rumor I've heard is bringing back Hogan for an nWo Hall of Fame induction.

Piper mentioned on his two-part Stone Cold podcast appearance that they were trying to do something with him and Hogan, and maybe even Mr. T at Mania, but they weren't sure if it would be a match or something else. It was actually a really good interview - Piper talks about how he pulled a knife on a kid in middle school, how he still can't really read, etc.

That's funny. The story the WWE links to from the front page of their Royal Rumble site doesn't have the last five guys. They probably haven't updated with them because they're going to be "announced" on Smackdown.
