It's an interesting point about the judge. I don't know enough about contracts. I kind of always thought you were bound by whatever was in there, however fair or unfair it might be. Did Ventura try to unionize at some point too? Obviously a collective bargaining would help.......I imagine guys like Cena and/or Punk would have more "protection" from "bad" contractual language than, say, the Usos or some divas.

Even if you agree to it, you can still argue that you were essentially "forced" to sign a contract.

Ventura's not the most reliable witness, but he's claimed in the past that he tried to unionize the locker room but didn't have the support of Hulk Hogan, and he was out of the business shortly thereafter.

His claim was that he, along with the Killer Bees, were trying to unionize before WM2, rationalizing that the publicity had already gone out and that Vince & Co. would have to either tear everything up or negotiate. Supposedly, according to Ventura, Hogan had agreed to join the effort, but instead ratted them out to Vince. Ventura claimed the Bees were fired, but I don't really remember them leaving until Blair left after WM3 and Brunzell became a glorified jobber.

If you look at IRS guidance on the topic (particularly in the common law section), it's amazing WWE has been able to keep up the independent contractor charade for so long:

What is this "season premiere" bullshit?

We're through this Springer/Bella segment. This rivals Fake Trump/Fake Rosie for one of the worst in history.

Only good thing was JBL mocking their brother for coming out to his own entrance music and and then, when Nikki accidentally slapped him, said, "who cares?"

Pretty good ending to an otherwise lackluster show, from what I saw from flipping between that and football.

Was Springer legit hurt? Looked like Stephanie might have cleated him in the ribs with a heel.

And I thought the same thing about the "season premiere" stuff. Guess they do that every September for ratings purposes? Like in the old days, when they'd treat each hour like its own show, complete with re-airing the intro?

I thought it was an ankle injury. It may have been legit, because, unless the E was going for another one of those who gives a shit worked injuries, there really would be no storyline reason for Springer to be taken off on a stretcher.

Yeah, that would be my guess on the "new season" thing as well. That last night started the "year" for ad rate purposes. Since it was the debut of MNF, which had a doubleheader, it's probably going to be one of their lowest rated of the year, and also gives them something to build on.

I actually thought Cena/Heyman was fairly compelling but the rest of the show was kind of blah. Good opening match too but nothing unexpected.

The way I view the whole "seasons" thing, especially in the video game, is the first Raw of March or April until the next Mania is a "season." But I could see them doing it for ad purposes as well.
