And like ripping a wet fart at your kid's baptism, here's a little rundown of WCW Road Wild 1998, the annual pay-per-view that was just a big excuse for Bischoff and other top talent with the right stroke to get a paid vaction to Sturgis for the big bike rally ...

Damn, what a piece of shit, but again in a hilarious way. Hollywood Hogan and Eric Bischoff vs. DDP and Jay Leno. WCW did a fantastic job of trying to make wrestling more mainstream by bringing in the likes of Malone and Rodman, and Jay Leno was another big pull. A lot of people will crap all over these things now, but back then this was a big deal. Obviously, DDP and Hogan did most of the work, but at least the agent was smart enough to know that Bischoff and Leno couldn't carry as much of the physical stuff as actual athletes like Rodman and Malone. Leno's offense was still shitty. Kevin Eubanks was ripped enough that they should have had him in the match and Leno play the role of manager.

For the matches themselves, are they bad? Yes, but so bad they're good. They're certainly not boring. Disco Inferno and Alex Wright vs Public Enemy. Raven got a match. The one boring match was Rey Mysterio vs. Psychosis. Sure, one of the best technical matches, but who cares? Jericho/Juventud was just as strong technically, but at least there was a story to tell. (And I just noticed that the WWE is re-writing history to have Jericho come out to his first WWF "Break Down the Walls" theme rather than the Pearl Jam rip off WCW gave him). Chavo had just started his gimmick with the stick horse, Pepe.

Actual bad match? The 9-man battle royal for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. So much talent in one ring (Nash, Hall, Sting, Luger, Hennig, Goldberg, to name a few), and it's got to be the worst battle royal I've ever watched. It's like this was the first time any of those nine had ever participated in a battle royal. A lot of guys standing around. At one point, and I forget who did it, two guys were struggling to throw each other over the top rope ... then they just stop and walk away from each other. That was it. No one threw a punch, no third party tried to help one throw over another. They just stopped like they were bored. Highlight of the match was seeing Goldberg get Giant in the Jackhammer. Sure, lots of guys have hit their finishers on Show since, but that was crazy for 1998. I doubt Show has the core strength to stay up for a suplex these days. Don't see a lot of suplexes anymore anyway, and that's too bad ...

If you were wondering, the Travis Tritt concert following the main event is cut off.

I take umbrage with this, good sir. Disco Inferno was awesome.

No mention if Judy is his tag team partner.

I hear he pretends to be impotent, then jumps up and slaps the women around with his 12-inch dick.

And all this time I thought Scott Steiner was the Big Bad Booty Daddy. Shows what I know.

At this point, Disco was more over than Fandango has been. If Fandango got more mic time and could show a bit more personality, he could be as entertaining as Disco was. He was on the verge before the concussion last year.

Thoughts on the WM30 card and match placement:

In no way should anything other than a Divas match or comedy segment follow Bryan if he's not on last. Want to really kill the title bout? Then sure, put it on after Bryan. Otherwise, I think if the card stands at Orton/Batista, Bryan/Triple H, and Undertaker/Lesnar, it'd be best to put Taker and Lesnar on last. Young 'uns need some reminding of their feud from a decade ago, but I will never forget that Hell in a Cell ... blood flowing from taker's head like a faucet. They beat the shit out of each other ... then again, I doubt those guys will be allowed to put on such a brutal display, so I'm setting myself up for disappointment.

Maybe not to that level, but this match will be nasty and brutal for at least two reasons:
    1) It's got to be. It's how Lesnar works best, and given their MMA interests it seems like this match should have the feel of a "real" fight. Wouldn't surprise me at all if some of those punches aren't pulled.
    2) The WWE tends to throw out some of its violence restrictions for the annual Undertaker match, or at least give him a ton of leeway. Remember how brutal the WM 28 match with Triple H was? Trips probably couldn't lift his arm for a week after some of the chair shots he took.

True. Plus the HiaC bloodletting probably wasn't intentional. Never seen anyone juice that much.

So you know what's great about the WWE Network? You guys were talking about that HITC and I didn't remember much about it so a quick google search and, boom, found out it was from No Mercy 2002. Fire up the PS3 and minutes later I'm watching the whole damn thing.
    Amazing.
As for the match, I'm amazed at how cartoonish the blood looks now that we haven't seen it in a while. You could almost see Lesnar blade right before his head started gushing and the fact that Heyman was busted wide open with a kick to the face is laughable.
At least Taker's head getting busted open was believable.
Still, for a HITC match it wasn't that brutal but, yeah, it was crazy bloody.
The interesting thing to me was that Taker dominated the bout for a good portion of it. And since Lesnar has come back, no one has really stood toe-to-toe with him. Hell, even Cena got his ass whooped.
It'll be interesting to see how they book this. Do you make Lesnar the monster alpha dog who spends most of the bout kicking Taker's ass or do you make it a fair fight?
Either way it should be quite the sight.

So I'm watching NXT right now. Just gotta say: Adam Rose has my new favorite ring entrance. F**king awesome.

I've seen that several places on the net tonight. It doesn't seem to be on Youtube yet.
