Did anyone who watched the game really think at any point that the US was going to win?

I kept thinking "it's only a matter of time until Belgium scores". Howard kept holding them off for a long time. But I thought the only way the US wins is if they somehow keep Belgium scoreless and gets a bit lucky on penalty kicks.

Landon Donovan would've won that game for us.

I thought they were going to tie it on the razzle-dazzle FK.

And there were a few times I thought they should have gone at goal rather than trying to lay it off to a teammate.

I thought they had a pretty good chance when Wondo had an amazing shot at the net unmarked with 30 seconds to go.

Before extra time I kept thinking just takes one despite all that happened and it almost came true. I really believed they were going to tie it after making it 2-1.

That's how I started to enjoy the game. Got hooked by World Cup. My problem - I have no natural team to root for outside of team USA. I get that problem solved and I'll be golden :).

I thought we could have taken it in the last 10.

End of the day, they brought in Lukaku and we brought in Wondo. All you need to know.

Yedlin was great, but imagine him fresh as a change of pace for DMB instead of playing the whole game.

And you aren't winning with a poor Clint playing out of position and Bedoya and Zusi in your first XI.

Exactly. And their other sub played for Spurs; ours was an 18-year-old kid on a junior team (albeit one of the top junior teams in the world). We bring in MLS guys; they bring in EPL guys. We just don't have the depth yet. Adnan Januza plays for Man U and can't even get on the field for Belgium. Love to have him with the US.

I'd also like to see a big, strong fast defender like Kompany. Guy is built like a linebacker and doesn't get knocked off the ball.

By the way, if the reports are correct that AR incorrectly flagged Wondo offsides, imagine the shit show if he scored with seconds to go and it didn't count.

Seems like the announcers backed off that and said it was just waving for a goal kick. But that would definitely have been something.

Lots of people on site reporting on Twitter were saying the flag was up as well.

Apparently the official score sheet (?) says there was a foul on Dempsey that Wondo chance. So says soccer obsessives in my Facebook feed.
