Is there a mercy rule in World Cup by any chance?

This game highlights that problem with soccer on World Cup Level.
Teams play little defense and there is too much scoring.

I follow soccer less than just about any other sport. But my pre-tournament pick was Argentina over Germany in the final (rematch of 1986 in Mexico). Might actually get one right.

This is how Germany thanks Brazil for hiding Mengele?

Klose set the record in Brazil and it was nicely done. I anticipate that he’ll be subbed out at some point, possibly halftime. Mueller, should the score remain, will be subbed out as well.

I translate this as: Some people type out dumb things.

No, this is a poor understanding of what these numbers indicate. The ground covered is because they have the stamina to do so. Bradley’s ability to read the game and react in such a way as to get into a position as to cut down an attack and cause a counter is not indicative of him not being in position. Messi moving so little is not him understanding the game better, either.

Messi doesn’t run as much because he doesn’t track back and provide defensive coverage. Thinking that this makes him “better” or “smarter” is inaccurate. It would be like asking why a wide receiver runs more during a game than a quarterback. This would then be followed up by an argument about how the quarterback is a better football player because he moves less during the game.

    Fantastic!

    Really…? Hmm… Try watching some VfL games…

The EPL is not the best league in the world…

Yes. Spain v. Netherlands in the first round of this tournament.
    For what?

What kind of odds could you have gotten on a Germany 5-0 halftime line in Vegas?

The bonus is looking at all the people in the background with the same expressions.

Don't think the Brazilians were on the take, but this does make you wonder.

Listening to it on ESPN Radio and J.P. Dellacamera called it, "the worst defending I've ever seen in a World Cup game."
