With Germany up 7-0, it was the biggest whomping in the semifinals. I think it still stands with a 7-1 win.

    Deutschland should have had 8.

Oh yeah, that last try before Brazil's goal should have gone in the net

BTW, you might recall my fascination with Schweinsteiger's name after the Univision announcers had so much fun with it last week. Well, just for fun I looked up what it means.

Schwein, as most of you probably know, means pig in German. Steiger, it turns out, translates (according to Google) to overseer. Which makes Schweinsteiger the pig overseer -- or, to put it more succinctly, he's Boss Hog.

That is insane. They were trounced, but it is one loss. Even if they keep just 5 guys from this team for the next World Cup they can easily recover.

The internet has already begin producing amusing memes. It's good like that. The credit for these goes to original authors. Whoever they are and wherever they might be.

This game continues a running theme in sports in 2014 -- the year of the championship ass-whippin' (and yes, I know this is only a semifinal; it's still a stakes game that'll be remembered for a long time).
    Seahawks-Broncos.
    Spurs-Heat.
    Germany-Brazil.

When's the last time we had a large number of lopsided championship games or series like that?

The ironic part of it is there's no guarantee that Germany wins on Sunday against either Argentina or the Netherlands. Strange how teams in all sports often respond after a blowout win.
