That first Dutch kicker had the look of a Quaker in a titty bar.

  2. The Catholic Church has two living Popes and the teams from their homelands are meeting in the World Cup final.

Never doubt the power of the Jesuits!

Dutch were forced to use their last sub for Van Persie, who played 90 minutes with a stomach virus and was completely gassed.

Ratzinger is far from a Jesuit.

Isn't the current pope the first Jesuit?

Pope Francis is the first Jesuit. His predecessor Ratzinger (Benedict) is not. An earlier post read like the author thought he was.

So what do you all make of the history of European teams not winning the Cup when it's held in the Western Hemisphere? Does that history affect your prediction for Sunday's championship match?

There's a huge row in the Euro press over Dutch players turning down the chance to go first. Van Gaal said he chose Vlaar after two teammates refused to go.

Van Gaal did not name the two, but Robben and Sneijder, being the two biggest stars left at the end of the game, are taking most of the arrows.

Picking Brazil to win the third-place match against the Netherlands today. It won't take away the sting of being embarrassed by Germany in the semifinals, but maybe they can at least finish with their heads high at home.

The Netherlands had a much more difficult and draining semifinal, so they might be a bit more weary.

Don't look now, but Brazil is in the process of getting torched again.
