Which of the two games is played first?

    Context is everything, IMHO.

To be able to put the ball on a teammate's head from 30 yards away in the final minute of a must-win game is freaking incredible -- especially because Ronaldo would've gotten crucified had Portugal been the first eliminated from the Group of Death.

Played simultaneously to avoid the fix that will be alleged no matter what happens. It's like FIFA doesn't think telecommunication was invented.

    Games will be played concurrently.

Final group games are at the same time. There was a deal in 1990, I think, involving Germany, by the way, that forced FIFA's hand to schedule final group matches so no one would have prior knowledge of a result.

One of the few things FIFA has gotten right in the past quarter-century.

Which doesn't change the fact that both Germany and the US get their optimal result from a boring, 0-0 draw.

Edit: Not completely optimal, I guess. US beating Germany by two would be their optimal result.

Good idea. And it should make for a couple hours of tremendous suspense. Can't wait.

Don't forget that he missed a sitter today. He has an easy tap-in at the near post and he shoots across his body instead. He hit it to the one part of the entire goal where there was a defender because he took a fundamentally unsound shot. You learn that shit in U-10.

I give him a pass on that.

But he also made a horrible pass at one point trying to fit the ball into Dempsey to his right. He had two guys in space to his left that had acres of room.

I'm generally a Geoff Cameron fan, but he had a hand in both of Portugal's goals. Beasley also screwed up on the last play. He's got to close Ronaldo down. Can't let him serve that shit up on a plate.
