Virtually every independent commenter I saw on the issue said that the U.S. outplayed Germany in the quarters in 2002 and that the result was against the run of play.

Absolutely nothing silly about it. If you're not striving to be among the elite, you're striving for mediocrity.

You might be a little too determined to be a "worldly" soccer fan.

I see the single toughest man in the entire internet is back.

And, btw, what does the Suarez' thing have to do with "flopping"? I think you might be getting your rants confused.

The next baseball team that clinches a pennant when the second-place team lose proves the entire sport is a JOKE!

You can find the downside for any team. Let's take Ghana:

    a) Wrenched a loss out of a tie to a U.S. side that nobody respects.

    b) Gave up a late goal to Germany to tie a game they should have won.

    c) Lost to a Portugal side who was practically playing for nothing.

    Let's take Portugal:

    a) Got humiliated by Germany.

    b) Needed a miracle goal to tie a U.S. side that nobody respects.

    c) Beat a Ghana team who are fighting among themselves, and throwing players off the team, by one lousy goal.

So unless you are Germany, you suck.

Portugal underachieved. Ghana was ... Ghana. Unless you were Germany, well, I won't say you sucked, but I won't say you're prime-time, either.

Believe me, I don't like being the negative one here. But it's what I see.

There's about a continent-wide chasm between a six-month, 162-game season and a three-week tournament where you have only played three games thus far.
